Indian Heracles (Krishna) is recorded by the Greeks as having lived 138 generations before the time of Alexander and Sandracottos which we may take to be c. 330 BC. Taking 20 years per generation, which is known to be a good average when ancient Indian dynasties are involved, we are led to the computation 2760 + 330 = 3090 BC which is remarkably close to the Kali date of 3102 BC. So a reckoning based on ancient Greek records takes us again to the traditional date of c. 3100 BC [1].

Nirjala Ekadashi - A Full Day Without Even Water - Hindu Sacred Day
Vayu Puranam
Creation
In the beginning, there was nothing in the universe. The brahman (the divine essence) alone was everywhere. The brahman had neither colour nor scent, it could not be felt or touched. It had no origin, no beginning or no end. The brahman was constant and it was the origin of everything that was destined to be in the universe and the universe was shrouded in darkness.
When it was time for creation to begin, the brahman divided itself into three. The first part became Brahma, the creator of the universe. The second part was Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. And the third part was Shiva, the destroyer.
At the time of creation, water appeared in the universe and the water was everywhere. In the water was created a golden (hiranya) egg (anda) that floated like a gigantic bubble. Brahma was born inside the egg. Since garbha means womb, Brahma came to be known as Hiranyagarbha. Since he effectively created (bhu) himself (svayam), he is also referred to as Svayambhu.
Brahma had four faces.
Also inside the egg were all the worlds (lokas) that would be created, in embryonic form. The earth was there, with its land, mountains, oceans and rivers. The moon, the sun, the stars and the planets were there. Also present were gods, demons, humans and other living beings who would be created.
This was the original creation of the universe (sarga).
But at the end of one of Brahma’s days, a minor destruction takes place. The universe is once again flooded with water during Brahma’s night. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are not however destroyed. Each of Brahma’s days is known as a kalpa (cycle). Thus, a minor destruction takes place at the end of every kalpa. When a new day dawns for Brahma, creation begins afresh. This periodical process of destruction (pralaya) and re-creation is known as pratisarga.
The present kalpa is known as varaha kalpa.

Ahobila Mutt
Origin
In the dream, he saw Lord Lakshmeenarasimha of Ahobilam and he heard his command to appear before him at Ahobilam and don the robe of a sanyasi and be instructed in his future mission of life there. He informed his Guru, Gatikasatham Ammal his dream. The guru told his disciple Srinivasacharya to obey the mandate.
Ahobilam. Having arrived there, he climbed the hill amidst dense forest (which
Thirumangai Azhvar describes as one which none can reach except God), had a dip
in the river Bhavanasini and took up abode in that wilderness. Meanwhile
Mukundaraya, the local chieftain also reached the, place to receive him on
divine command. Lord Narasimha appeared before Srinivasacharya in the form of a
sanyasi and initiated him with the "Preshmantra", gave him 'Sanyasa asrama'''
and named him 'Satakopa Jeeyar'. Thus was born Sri Ahobila Mutt and its First
Jeeyar.

Alignment versus Appeasement of Minorities in India
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi went on a Sadhbhavana Fast in Godhra. The Times of India in its paper dated 21 January 2012, in page 15 of Mumbai edition published the comment by VHP Leader Pravin Togadia with the caption "All netas in race to appease minorities" within the news item on Modi's fast. It is reported that Pravin Togadia took on CM Narendra Modi and asked whether there was any sadbhavana for those killed in the Godhra train carnage. While what Pravin Togadia said in this connection is difficult to know, we know only the reporting of the Times of India reporter Sachin Sharma.
In India, there are people of more religions apart from the main stream Hindu religion and many variants of Hindu religion. There are organizations which are working for the cause of sustaining and promoting Hindu religion. What is their outlook regarding other religions in the country? Advani, a senior leader of BJP, a party considered to argue that Hinduism is not getting its due in the country and minority appeasement is being practised by the ruling governments, advocates cultural unity. He does not advocate one religion for the country. Hinduism itself does not advocate one religion or prayer of only God. It has the concept of crores of deities or divine beings and even the supreme God is different in different occasions or scriptures. Even though in principle one God is stated, who is this one God in form is subject to belief of each person or family or group of people. Hinduism accepts that salutation to any God ultimately reaches that single person who is the world when there is pralaya and every other form is destroyed.
So there is an attempt by certain people to create alignment within all the people in India towards protecting and growing India. Even Viswa Hindu Parishad needs to have a plan for creating this alignment and in this regard they are participating in multi-religious functions and discourses. So VHP leaders in principle will not criticize every relation that Hindus have with other religion people as appeasement.
The news paper reporters also have to be careful to understand the context and report the statements and replies of various persons appropriately. There is a need for more discussion on this topic of alignment versus appeasement issue.

Women on Shopfloor in India- 2012
In the factories, in the machine shops and fabrication shops the presence of women was almost negligible. But the trend is chaning now in India. Last week, I visited the TVS Motors plant at Hosur and there were women working in the machine shop. Of course the job involved was only loading and unloading light weight work pieces. But they are working on costly CNC machines and handing motor cycle parts.
Today on 3.1.2012, Economic Times carried an article with the title "Women now break into the shopfloor."
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/jobs/engineering-companies-like-kirloskar-brothers-changing-gender-dynamics/articleshow/11346395.cms
Anant Talaulicar, CMD Cummins talks of 25% target for women by 2011 and 50% target in the next five years.
Kirloskar Brothers is also increasing women on shopfloor.
