Decentralized Planning
MPs and MLAs have to prepare investment plans/estimates for their constituencies and send them to Government
I advocated and explained that adequate and appropriate investment in the country can happen only when MPs and MLAs recommend investments that support plans of agriculturists, manufacturers and service businessmen. They are the natural leaders of people close to them and their area of business. They can ascertain their needs and desires and even do a preliminary assessment of relevance and feasibility. I explained it in an address on economy topic wherein I discussed growth in GDP in the coming years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUn4JmyWHPU
District, sub- district level and constituency level strategies are imperative to ensure balanced development below the state and district levels. Analysis of economic aggregates such as GVA play a key role in giving a prescription to improve the health of the economy, identifying the potential sectors at constituency level. This will also help to locate the backward areas and untapped resources, requiring focused attention of the Government.
The role of the people’s representatives (MPs and MLAs) in the journey of development of the state is noteworthy. The Constituency Domestic Product Estimates (CDP) prepared by Directorate of Economics & Statistics will be of immense use for the elected representatives, especially for acquiring better comprehension of the local strengths.
