China has 2.8 million persons who participated in 328 running events in 2017.

Sania Mirza picked up tennis racquet at the age of six and since then has gone on to become the highest ranked female player from India. Sania's family was based in Hyderabad.

Sania was  tipped to be a top player since her playing days in the junior circuit and came to limelight after winning the 2003 Wimbledon Championships Girls` Doubles title where she partnered Alisa Kleybanova of Russia.

Mirza won 10 singles and 13 doubles titles as a junior player. She won the 2003 Wimbledon Championships Girls' Doubles title, partnering Alisa Kleybanova. She also reached the semifinals of the 2003 French Open Girls' Doubles, with Sanaa Bhambri, and the quarterfinals of the 2002 US Open Girls' Doubles, with Isha Lakhani.


She  has two Grand Slam titles to her name besides winning gold in 2006 Asian Games in Mixed Doubles.

She is the first Indian women to break into the top 30 WTA rankings.

In 2005, Sania became the first ever Indian woman to win a WTA title winning the AP Tourism Hyderabad Open.


On 12 April 2015, Sania Mirza became World  number one in Women Doubles Rankings.

Vijender Singh, 26-year-old boxer asserted his class once again as he booked his berth for the London Olympic games after reaching the semifinals of the Asian qualifiers in Astana, Kazakhstan in April 2012.  He beat Mongolia's Chuluuntumur Tumurkhuyag 27-17 to clinch the last available chance for London games.

He has qualified for Olympics for three times in a row.
