Hedgewar was influenced by Hindu Mahasabha.
He questioned why India, the land Hindus came under foreign rule and rule of other religion people. He wanted to organize Hindus as a united group of people willing to fight for their nation state. He started Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh in 1925 with a small group of his friends. The movement started by him is today a big national organization that in turn was responsible for large number of organizations working in different walks of like including education, agriculture, social service, history, trade unionism, and politics. Bharatiya Janata Party was formed when in Janata Party there was a problem regarding membership of RSS by party members who were earlier with Bharatiya Janasangh.
Narendra Modi, in 2014 Lok Sabha elections led BJP to a simple majority in Lok Sabha and thus for the first time in India, an opposition party which has no connection whatsoever with Indian National Congress came to power. A milestone is reached in the dream of Hedgewar as the organization started by him has the political power to support its activity and movement to unite Indians across the country into intense Nation loving people.
