16 May 2014 - The counting of 16 Lok sabha elections was done on 16 May 2014. By 12 noon, it became clear that BJP was getting 272+ seats and getting simple majority on its own. Modi's mission 272+ became a success. Channels were singing praises of Modi's leadership of BJP and his campaign method. Victory celebrations were all around the country.
Narendra Modi himself came on the public stage in the evening of 16th May with a public meeting in Vadodara, the constituency from which he has won the election with a majority of 5,70,000. He told the people of Vadodara that press wanted him to speak before, but he decided that he should first speak only in Vadodara. He promised people good rule for the entire citizens of India. He also commented that there should not enmity in democracy. There is only competition. Government of India is for all people of India irrespective of whom they voted in the election.

17 May 2014 - Narendra reached Delhi airport around 11 am. From there he went to Headquarters of BJP. He addressed the BJP workers for a very brief time after reaching the headquarters and then went in for the parliamentary board meeting. The president of BJP, Mr. Rajnadh Singh addressed the press conference after the meeting and informed them that BJP parliamentary party meeting will take place on 20th May and Narendra Modi will be elected as the leader of the parliamentary party. Modi told the press people that due to lack of time he was not able to meet them so far. He said press people are his own people and he will meet them as quickly as possible.

From Delhi, Modi proceeded to Varanasi, the second constituency from which he had won the Lok Sabha election. He reached Varanasi by around 5.30 pm.
