Maharashtra Assembly 2024 Post - Election News

Rohit Pawar
@RRPSpeaks

Manifesto of BJP for Maharashtra Assembly 2024

India shows all the signs of a failed middle-income country — first face them to fix things.
Government is focusing on subsidies and cash transfers. It is unable to invest and increase employment and production. Economy is unable to produce for mass consumption.

Reason - Make in India remained as a slogan. It was not supported by capability improvement and investment by government. It was an abandoned program by Modi.

Candidates of Political Parties of 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections

BJP   - INC  -  MNS  -  NCP -   Shiv Sena

Total of 7,666 nominations were filed. Highest 91 nominations from Nanded South. Minimum 9 in  guhagar, Mahim and Kudal.

6,494 nomination forms were found valid after scrutiny. 2379 nominations were withdrawn.

4,117 candidates are now in contest for 288 seats.
http://www.newsonair.com/news.asp?cat=State&id=ST3379

Congress is contesting all 288 seats. NCP is in 286 seats. BJP is contesting 257 giving 31 to allies. Shiv Sena is contesting in 286 seats. It is not contesting in Parli and Byculla.

Role of Independents

In the 2009 election, about 1,820 independents contested and won 24 seats. Significantly, they polled more than 15% of the votes. In 2004, 19 independents were elected and in 1999 there were 12 independents who became MLAs. Independents scored their highest number in 1995 winning in 45 constituencies. They got a quarter of the votes cast.

In 2014 once again, independents may show a good performance as major alliances have split and hence the number of votes polled by a single party candidate may come down drastically.
