Low Income Housing Marketing In India - Big Potential

270 industries are allied to construction and housing.

The size of affordable housing industry can be presently Rs. 25,000 crore but it can increase up to Rs. 5 lakh crore by 2022.  It is a huge opportunity for the aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned and well established entrepreneurs to come forward and innovate to provide housing to many and in turn profit from the business potential being created by the government through additional incentives.

The potential for affordable housing highlighted in 2013 is becoming more visible now in 2017. Government has come out with more policy annoucements in this area and builders are coming forward to announce schemes to provide housing to low income sections.

There is also a large proportion of urban low income families, with a monthly household income of INR 10,000 – 25,000, who can afford privately built formal housing costing INR 4 – 10 lakh without any aid from the Government. 

There is an estimated need of 15 million homes for these low-income customers, which translates into an opportunity of INR ~9 lakh crore for developers and INR ~7 lakh crore for housing finance companies.
