In total 12 medals are up for grabs today. Involving sports and categories of road cycling, 10m air rifle women’s shooting, Men’s archery team bronze and gold, judo women’s 48kg, judo men’s 60kg, shooting men’s 10m air pistol, fencing, weightlifting women’s 48kg and 400m swimming.

Japan’s Kosuke Hagino wins the men’s 400m medley. USA second, Japan third

60kg category in men’s Judo.

Russia have their first gold in Rio. Beslan Mudranov wins 60kg category in men’s Judo.

And it’s a gold for Vitenam’s Hoang Xuan Vinh! He shoots a brilliant 10.7 in final shot to finish ahead of Brazil’s Felipe Almeida. Bronze to China.

Road cycling

Belgium’s Van Avermaet wins gold medal. Silver for Denmark’s Jakob Fuglsang and bronze for Poland’s Rafal Majka.

100m Breaststroke Swimming

World record
The world record is set by Adam Peaty of Britain in the 100m breaststroke event after finishing the event in 57.55 seconds. The previous record was 57.92 seconds also by Peaty

Shooting ; Women's 10m air rifle

United States teenager, 19-year-old   Virginia Thrasher has won the first gold medal of Rio 2016!

she won the gold medal  in the women's 10m air rifle with a stunning record breaking performance.

Li Du of China  got the silver medal.

Her compatriot Yi Siling took  the bronze.
